TAKE a walk through Wellington city on any given day and you will see and hear a buffet of buskers sharing their music for a few coins.

Wellington buskers are often travellers but many are also kiwis who have moved to the capital from all over the country.

The guitar is the instrument of choice for many street performers, but a variety of instruments - from the piano to the Peruvian cajon – can also be heard.

Many buskers are talented musicians who perform on the street during the day and play gigs at night, making music their livelihood.

Buskers say foot traffic and pedestrian friendly areas of the city, like Cuba Mall and Manners Mall, make the city ideal for entertaining the public.
